Firstly, you need to understand who you’re creating content for. What are their interests, pain points and aspirations? If you want to create engaging content that your audience will love, you need to know as much about them as possible. You can achieve this by conducting surveys, analysing demographics and engaging in conversations with your audience.

Now you can start thinking about why you are creating content. Other than the obvious reasons such as promotion, increasing brand awareness and connecting with your audience, what is the purpose of your content? Again, this will depend on who your audience is. Are you creating content to primarily entertain, inform, market or start discussions? Do you want to create a variety of all of these? Knowing the purpose of your content will make creating it a lot easier and will give you a starting point when brainstorming ideas.
This is where you actually start brainstorming content topics. Below is a list of ideas and themes to get you started. By working from this list and using it as inspiration, you can create content that aligns with your brand and fits your purpose.
Company Info: Background, origin, why the company was founded.
Staff and Team: Who makes up the company? What is their background and experience? What are their interests or some fun facts about them?
Company Culture: What type of culture does your company adhere to? Team activities, flexibility, parties?
International and national holidays: Beside the obvious Christmas, Halloween etc. create a calendar showing all the relevant national and international days that you can create posts for.
Check out this UK national days calendar to get started.
Customer/Client: Features, feedback and reviews.
Case Studies: Tell the story of a customer who has used your services or products.
Research/informative posts: What is your company an expert in? Create insightful and informative content to engage your audience. Or conduct research into a relevant topic and present your findings.
Trends: Social media trends can be huge, keep track of current trends on platforms like TikTok and Instagram and see if you can work your business or product into a new, viral trend.
Creating content is a very creative task and can be daunting. But with thorough research, keeping track of trends and planning ahead, you can continuously create engaging, interesting content that keeps your audience coming back for more.
